Performance
Open Performance page
Drupal performs better by aggregating CSS and JavaScript files to save bandwidth and the amount of server requests. The Proxy Cache should be enabled with 1 min or longer.
The Performance configuration page allows administrators to optimize the performance of their Drupal site. Key settings include:
- Caching:
- Page Cache: Enable or disable the caching of entire pages for anonymous users to reduce server load and improve page load times.
- Minimum Cache Lifetime: Set the minimum amount of time that cached pages will be stored before they are refreshed.
- Expiration of Cached Pages: Define how long cached pages remain in the cache before they are considered expired.
- Bandwidth Optimization:
- Aggregate CSS Files: Combine multiple CSS files into one to reduce the number of HTTP requests.
- Aggregate JavaScript Files: Combine multiple JavaScript files into one to reduce the number of HTTP requests.
- CSS/JS Optimization:
- Preprocess CSS: Enable preprocessing of CSS files to improve front-end performance.
- Preprocess JavaScript: Enable preprocessing of JavaScript files to improve front-end performance.
- CDN Integration: If using a Content Delivery Network (CDN), configure the CDN settings to ensure static assets are delivered from the closest server to the user.
- Database Cache Settings: Adjust database cache settings to optimize how frequently data is read from the database versus the cache.
Configuring these performance settings helps improve your site’s load times, reduce server load, and provide a better user experience. Regularly reviewing and adjusting these settings based on site traffic and usage patterns is recommended for optimal performance.
